Personality
Christopher is a loner by nature, who feels highly uncomfortable in most social situations, unless they involve his siblings or those he can converse with. These people usually include those older than him or those he trusts. He rarely speaks of whatever is bothering him and tends to spend his time worrying about others rather than himself, which sometimes exasperates his siblings and others around him. The habit of never asking the others do more than he can leads to his placing exceptionally high standards on his own abilities and those under his command, consistently improving his skills and pushing everyone around him to do better than they are.
He never goes into anything without a clear mindset and clearly set goal. Picking at mistakes, which is a favorite of his to do, is done with the best of intentions, even if it’s annoying those who would rather forget those and bask in the glory of achievement, and he would ensure those mistakes are avoided next time. It also goes for any of his decisions made in cases of politics if he can help it. Another particular habit of his is to ensure all the arguments are sound before any decision is made, though even he’s not omniscient and may miss things. Whenever that is the case, he tends to brood for days, wondering whether there could have been a better way to do either step and feeling sorry it cannot be redone.
His siblings are the ones he’s the most open with his emotions around. While he may seem as intense, cold, and even more aloof from his surroundings than Jasen, Christopher can and will open up to those he cares about, even if it may take time for him to do so. An overprotective sibling, he is the one looking after the eldest and the two younger, making sure they’re as well off as he can, though he struggles to express himself sometimes when it’s needed the most. Luckily for him, all three of them have learned to pick at his moods despite his expressions, and tend to badger him if they see anything off. Hit by the death of their parents as bad as they had been, he grew ever close to the three of them, placing family above duty, which, perhaps, may have been a mistake to do but in his case, all the more precious for an already existing loss.
History
The one who saw problems in whatever schemes were hatched by his siblings, Christopher grew up a relatively happy child, as far as he was concerned. Being the second of four lent to his quiet and brooding nature, out of which only his siblings and parents were able to pull him if he could be convinced to. One with few, but trusted friends, he put more into ability to trust than ability to find people to interact with, and as he found most of his age irritating to him fairly quickly, he turned his attention to interacting with older generation. For some, this might’ve been odd if not for his intellect and ability to keep up in most conversations concerning politics, tactics, and a vast variety of subjects, finding a means of asking the right question on topics that interested him. Having taken to tagging along with his older brother Jasen, he developed the closest relationship with him out of the three, the easiest to express himself to, as Jasen usually took his time to listen. Sebastian and Katalin were protected and cared about, though he couldn’t quite understand his sister from time to time.
The age at which he could appear at court to begin his training for knighthood was welcomed in equal parts relief and regret. Relief, because it meant he’d be among those of like-minds, and get to learn everything he wanted to in order to be among the best knights the kingdom had to offer, if not the best in the realm, and regret due to the fact that the time it had taken him to learn what he needed to know was taking him away from his siblings. Nonetheless, he was supported in his endeavor by both his parents and siblings, and found means to keep in touch with Jasen through letters, for he could always visit Sebastian and Katalin, while visits to Oakdale were rare. Under the tutelage of one of the knights in the order of Escarbouche, he learned and cemented a vast majority of his current skills, taking pride in mastering the knowledge he already had at pace that allowed him to pass his apprenticeship trials at eighteen. From there, he chose to continue as part of Royal Guards, despite keeping an interest in other areas for sake of knowledge itself. While, perhaps, being in the middle of Court is not the best place for him, it allowed Christopher to keep abreast of Court politics and in part to keep an ear out for his family, helping them to stay informed to the best of his ability. The larger part of his duties and loyalty, however, lie with the Crown, which caused conflict between family and duty whenever his family was in need.
As his training continued, he eventually passed his trials, earning the knighthood he aimed for, and in turn, found him closer to Court than he might have liked. Still, the new post made it relatively easy for him to secure a leave of absence for such a time as his siblings needed him following the shock of their parents’ deaths, and the reconnection to the remainder of his family allowed him to begin working past his own problems. Growing closer to his family members during the time spent at Oakdale despite remaining emotional misunderstanding, Christopher found himself struggling to balance family responsibility and that of his knighthood, though so far he managed to remain relatively neutral. However, recent whispers among the nobles about his family has him wary and on alert, finding him keeping a closer eye on Katalin and recently arrived Jasen and tabs on Sebastian at the university, probably without his younger brother being aware he does so. As he is in Triadon, it places him in unique position of observer, which, for now, suits him just fine despite the fact that sooner or later, he would find himself drawn into the plot against his family, the whispers of which he keeps catching just now.

No sound behind the door but the crash of implements being thrown by an impatient or, perhaps, furious hand, yet it was enough for Christopher to pause on his rounds and raise an eyebrow in curiosity. He had passed many a chamber on his usual route that catered to many an emotion, those that he learned to recognize along the way the longer he spent in the palace. As a knight of the royal guard, it was part of his duty to recognize sounds of danger when it was present, especially if it was close to the royal wing, and interfere should he deem the situation needing to be interfered into.
This particular door seemed to house some danger closer to home than he liked. Home being his siblings, the only living beings who shared blood ties with him, and there was nothing more he detested than danger to them. Jasen, Katalin, and Sebastian were keeping him sane, much like he had done for them in turn during time of the funeral he hadn’t expected to hold for some time yet, and thus any threat to them earned a closer look than the perpetrators possibly liked. Yet, Christopher had nothing to go on aside from sounds, and perhaps he was being too suspicious again, jumping at shadows, his brother would mention. Every little sound was translated into threat, any move toward a sibling that could be interpreted hostile was done as such, and it took everything he had to avoid jumping to their side if he had duty to attend to. Yes, this time around, he was grateful for presence of duty, as it recalled him to the present now and oftentimes did in situations like those, as well.
Shaking his head to clear it off suspicions, Chris passed the door unmarked, though he couldn’t help a closer look, wishing he could see what had the occupant of the room behind in such straights that an expression such as that was needed. Making a mental note to change the night rounds for something more tedious and closer to his siblings’ company, he grimaced at the thought. That meant he would have to bear the presence of courtiers and others of the like, whom one of his brothers fondly called jackals. Still, among those jackals there were a few here and there whose company was bearable and missed, and it would give him an open eye over the Court and his siblings, who, he knew, had to make an occasional appearance there in order to interact with other nobles, an event he himself found wearisome. If it would place him in position to better safeguard both the royal family and his brother and sister, so be it, but it would definitely end his suspicions. All that remained was putting the plan in action, and they all, he knew, would feel safer for his doing so.
