Personality
Isolde, in all honesty, is serious and charismatic woman. She's incredibly diplomatic and outspoken. If she feels that she needs to be heard, she ensures that she is. She lets nothing go unsaid, and it's very well known that she can be less than tactful with her words. She says everything how she sees it, not finding the need to censor herself for the good of her image. She's a strong young woman, with a kind heart and a passionate soul. Although she can come off as rather abrasive, her kindness, like her late twins, knows no bounds. She has a soft spot for neglected children and the people less fortunate. While she hold some animosity toward her family members, she doesn't let that be publicly known. What is between her and her family is just that, between her and her family. It is no one elses business and she doesn't let anyone else in on the workings and dealings of her family members.
Isolde has a mind as sharp as any politicians. She keeps her agenda to herself, even though she remains outspoken. She has the tactical skills to lead and army and the combat skills to fight in one (because of her brother teaching her in secret), though those notions are for her and her family to know. She does not outright advertise her skills, as it can be taken as a sign of pride. One thing that Isolde does not let get in her way is her pride. While she holds herself in a prideful manner, she is not overly boastful of her accomplishments. She keeps talk to herself to a minimum and dislikes the prying words of other lords and ladies.
She remains a reserved woman, never letting anyone get too close to her. It's a defense mechanism based on how she was raised and the way she was shunned off from the family at a young age. She is a woman, however, and does desire some sort of affection in her life, though the notion is not at the forefront of her mind. It will take quite a lot of work to get her to open up, and she refuses to marry for diplomatic purposes. She hates users and abusers, so the like best remain out of her way.
Isolde is not loyal or disloyal to the crown. She remains in the middle, settling herself comfortably down where she wishes. She does not agree with everything that comes up in court, and always makes a point to make sure that people know such. However, there are times where she will keep her opinions to herself, only if the consequences of her actions can lead to harming of her physical being or her family. She refuses to choose a side, and when asked whether she is for or against the crown, she will simply remain silent. While the Carlisle's of royalty are related to her, she has no real reason to be loyal or disloyal to them. Thus, you have her political standpoint.
Isolde has also become a suspicious person. She's always careful around people and is suspicious of anyone who may have had reason to murder her brother. While many people think to peg her with her brothers death, she knows that she had nothing to do with it. One of her main goals is to find out who the killer is and have justice taken upon their life for their crime against her and her family.
History
Isolde was born into the Carlisle family, a twin to her brother William. The two were incredibly close as children, and were pretty much inseparable. However, it was clear that William was more favored of the two. Their parents had desperately wanted an heir to their title, and having William gave them just that. For the first few years of her life, Isolde was able to enjoy the time with her brother. When he reached the age of seven, however, her father started to pull him away from her for separate training lessons and sparring sessions. William needed to learn to fight and lead if he was to take their fathers title when he was older.
Jealous and rather outraged, Isolde pulled away from the entire family. She grew bitter and irritated with anything and everything that they did. She felt that they had no right to exclude her in the way that they had, and they shouldn't have taken her brother away from him. William, however, in his infinite kindness, noticed the way Isolde started to act. So he made a deal with her. Every night after his training sessions with their father, he would take Isolde to someplace secret and teach her everything that he had learned that day. They groomed each other for the title, even though they both knew only one would get it. They also knew it wouldn't be Isolde; at least not by their fathers choice.
Isolde enjoyed these nights with her brother. She enjoyed learning the battle moves and the war strategies, even though she knew it wasn't something a proper lady should be interested in. That didn't stop her, though. Eventually she was on par with her brother, studying more into what he taught her in her free time, when her mother wasn't trying to teach her to be a lady. She had no interest in acting proper when people didn't treat her properly as it was. She followed direction, however, putting on the mask of the dutiful daughter whenever she needed.
She and her brother didn't always practice and train, however. They did have a lot of fun when they could. As far as the family could tell, they were just the perfect pair of siblings, though her parents still showed a certain amount of favoritism toward her brother. She tried to make the best of her situation, though, shrugging it off whenever she could. When she couldn't, though, it seemed William always ended up hurt. He always lied and said he tripped over his own feet or got into a fight with another boy, wanting to protect his sister from any punishment that could have been aimed at her.
Slowly, Isolde started to settle down. While she and her brother still practiced combat and self defense methods, Isolde found herself delving more and more into the history books, the law books, the strategy books. Her thirst for knowledge was insatiable, though it wasn't as if anyone ever noticed the long hours she spent in the library. As long as she arrived to her lessons, she was all but forgotten when it came to her time to herself. No one bothered her, except of course for the librarian. He was always an interesting man and always lead Isolde to the exact books that she wanted, though he never asked any questions and he always remained silent about her practices. Besides William, he was her only friend. She didn't get along with any of her other family members, especially her parents, and her brother Edward seemed to have the same issues. Isolde really couldn't blame the boy. She knew exactly how he felt.
When the twins turned eighteen, William took his fathers title. Isolde was happy for him, but she was also rather upset that he would be leaving for court. She would be losing her other half. She was being left behind. He was gone for weeks or months at a time, but Isolde relished in the days that they were able to spend together when he was home. The two would talk about their time apart and anything that was bothering them at that moment. At one point, their mother started to push the fact that Isolde should marry. As stubborn as she was, she put her foot down and outright refused. The last thing she wanted was to be ruled by another man. She'd been lorded over by her father all of her life and she refused to take that sort of treatment from a husband. After a while her mother completely avoided the topic, though her father brought it up from time to time. He always got the same force of temper that their mother received, so eventually he stopped asking altogether as well.
Sometime in the last half year, William was murdered. Isolde was heartbroken when she heard the news and she was incredibly curious as to what lead to his death. Why someone would kill her brother, a very kind man, was beyond her. Her father was ready to let Edward take the title that William had died with, but Isolde stepped in, taking it from her younger brother. It took much convincing and many arguments with her mother and father, but she eventually proved herself worthy enough and got her way. She has spent the remaining months reading up on the issues and the politics of court, ready to make her first appearance as the Lady of Meirin.

Isolde sat up in bed, looking over at the door as it was pushed open. The physician stood there, breaking the news to her in the most heartbreaking manner. William. William was dead. He'd been murdered. The pale blonde just stared at the physician, not seeming to hear him. He noticed the complacent look on her features and started to repeat himself. Isolde lifted herself from her bed slowly, starting across the floor in bare feet, slowly placing her hand upon the physician's shoulder and guiding him out of her room, the door slamming behind him. She didn't worry about if he was insulted or not. The care he took to break the news of her twin brothers death was lacking and the last thing she could think about was the old mans pride. Instead, she settled herself on the edge of her bed, rubbing at her cheeks and her eyes, forcing back the sting of tears that threatened her. She didn't cry. She had refused to all of her life. She wouldn't start now. There was no way.
It took many long moments before she found herself fit to rise and start her day, trying to push the disturbing news to the back of her mind. She refused to believe it. She couldn't believe it. She bathed and dressed herself in her favorite blue gown, soon finding herself at the door to her fathers study. He always seemed to be settled in this room, and in the first few years of her life she enjoyed watching him work, even when it grew late into the night. She rapped her knuckles onto the door not waiting for the invitation for her to enter. With her father, she never did. At first she just stood in the doorway, staring at his saddened and clearly tired form. For a moment, she wondered how her ailing mother was taking the news. Probably far worse than her father was.
She cleared her throat, letting her fingers knot and tangle in front of her stomach, trying to find the right words that could comfort her grieving father. All she felt were the tears. Those salty scourges that threatened to show her weakness and her grief. Her hand flitted up to her mouth and she shook her head, letting her blonde curls shudder across her shoulders. Isolde still couldn't think of anything to say, even with her fathers inquiring stare and his soft words of encouragement. Even though he hardly showed much affection to the girl, he held his arms out, offering her the comfort that she so desperately wanted.
Isolde couldn't resist. She started forward, whispering, "Papa," before she threw herself into his arms and buried her face into his shoulder. She let the tears fall and her sobs grip her chest. Just this once she would accept her distant fathers embrace. She was the eldest child now, and he still needed her in his life. However, it was far too little far too late to start showing Isolde the kindness he had refused to show her. He didn't win this time. It would take far more than comforting arms and the gentle caress of her hair to make her forgive and forget her father. Right now, however, her mind was on William. Her other half who she would never see again. Who's smile she would never enjoy and who's stories she would never hear. She silently prayed for him to give her a sign or a clue. She wanted to know who did it. Who took him from her? In the back of her mind, a new goal formed. She would find them and she would earn her justice.
