EDWARD CARLISLE
Nickname - Ed
Gender - Male
Age - 20
Birthday - 13, June, 1520
Noble House - Carlisle
Skills - Swordsmanship, Dagger Fighting, Weaponry
Play By - Jamie Campbell Bower
Immediate Family Members - Jacob Carlisle {father}, Rachel Carlisle {mother}, William Carlisle {Elder brother, 23}, Martha Carlisle {Younger sister, 17}
Personality
Harsher worded folk would describe Edward as being a barbarian. He is not a man of patience and can be quite argumentative if he feels like it. He does what he likes, when he wants, and does not have much care about what the Court thinks despite his houses rank in status. Easily considered the problem child of his family, Edward takes the barb with a raucous laugh. Amongst his flaws, there are also valuable traits. Edward is loyal to a fault, and more than willing to die to protect his family. At the same time, he would likely be admonishing them for being so stupid as to get themselves into the situation in the first place. That being said, Edward is very outspoken and sees no use in telling lies to get what he wants. Instead, he relies on his cunning and manipulative skills to twist simple truths into being in his favor.
Part of his loyalty to the Royals stems from the fact that he has no desire to be a king. He is content with his station in life despite the troubles faced within it. Edward can at times come off as being an arrogant man but that is mostly due to his need to call things as he sees them. He does not make pretty lies, nor does he make promises that he cannot keep.
History
As the second born son, Edward has never had the same amount of pressures as his eldest brother, for which he is grateful. He feels that there is nothing worse than having to lead a House and would prefer to put it off for as long as possible. Labelled as a problem child from an early age, trouble was a state that young Edward was often in, always being scolded for one thing or another. To say that he has never learned his lesson would be an understatement. He has never met his cousins but he is undoubtedly loyal to them, if only because he has no desire for the throne to be swung his familys way. No, he would much rather it stay where it is, and he deal with the responsibilities he already has.
As a young lad, Edward was trained in the arts of swordsmanship and dagger fighting. He uses these skills to help protect his familys lands as well as those under his familys care. The one thing the boy did right {as it sometimes seemed} was attending his lessons, though to say it was without complaints would be a lie. Still, he did attend them and took in the knowledge provided. Should his eldest brother fall, Edward is quite capable of taking over though he would much rather that his brother remain living, even if he does think the older man to be quite the prat. Needless to say, he does not get along well with his immediate family members. Having been away from them for education purposes, he also does not know them very well and due to everything in his upbringing, has a low family value.
After he had finished his education, he returned home and kept himself busy by helping to keep the lands secure. Instructed by his ailing mother to start showing his face in court from now on, since the future looked dire and she wished to see at least one of her sons make a match, he felt it only proper to grant her this request, despite not making any promises about it. After all, he was not about to just marry anyone, no matter how beneficial they would be to the house.
RP Sample
Edward despised this season though he saw the need for it. Getting the usual pleas to be proper and behave as a gentleman, he could only give his trademark raucous laugh along with the words, "no promises". He did not make promises lightly nor did he make ones he did not think he could keep. As it was, he had no desire to attend the masquerade ball that he was being cajoled into but supposed it would be of some use, if only to have a little fun. He despised dancing and would rather go into the foray of battle single-handedly than do so but he did enjoy the handy sport of people-watching. One could learn so much doing just that, though if you listened to the wrong crowd, you ended up learning which Ladies found his cousin Riordan 'to die for', or Tristan 'having potential'. Fluffy headed examples of women that he would never think to court.
No, what Edward wanted was something rather different. He didn't just want a woman just for what benefits she would bring to his house. Of course, the man knew that those were important things to consider. Truth be told, he wanted a fighter of a woman. One that could stand for herself and be his partner at all times, even on a battlefield if she were to end up on one alongside him. Of course, as a man, he would ensure that never happened but one could not tell these days when something like that would occur. Sometimes he thought he would marry the woman able to put a blade to his throat in ease. These were unpredictable times they were living in just as he was an unpredictable man. Finding himself finally ready to go, he ran a hand through his blonde hair as he made way to the carriages. "Please sir, do behave as a gentleman," his servant once again implored him to no avail. "As I said, no promises. We'll see what the night holds," he said with another laugh before setting off.
