Personality
One should never underestimate Natalie Kendall. The woman had a penchant for quick talking, devilish grins, flirtatious winks and head turning actions. Natalie is a woman that enjoys the finer things in life, but also enjoys life for the mere sake that it is life itself. Life, in her opinion, was something that should never be taking too seriously. After all, if one did such a thing, they would miss their lives in a blink of an eye. Smelling roses, trying new things, going on daring adventures, having a good laugh, and experiencing new sensations is what keeps Natalie going. However, that raises the question of just who could keep up with her?
Indeed, for some, Natalie is far too much to handle. The woman has a propensity for daring fashion styles, biting remarks, and has no qualms in questioning the intelligence of an individual behaving like a fool. As she gets older, those qualities within her are slowly becoming tamed since life has taught her a lesson or five about the rashness of actions. However, even such lessons could do nothing to dampen the fiery spirit that yearned to come free and burn brighter than the sun. It is her parents’ hope that time in Triadon and being in the service of the Princess Emmaline would help dim some of that light, or, at the very least, make it manageable.
Despite the exuberant personality, Natalie is a steadfastly loyal and friendly person. Once she makes a friend of someone, they are her friends for life, often through thick and thin. Her gregarious nature belies her highly selective nature, since making friends should never be a flippant affair. This is not to say that her selection of friends is entirely mercenary. Rather, she selects friends based on how they view their lives, the role she could play in their lives and how they could help each other. After all, is that not what friends are for?
History
Born the eldest daughter of Arthur and Miranda Kendall, Natalie proved to be a fiery and defiant lass from the moment she could walk, or rather run. As a child, Natalie strove to defy all rules that were put before her. It was never the right time to learn, to nap, to eat, or anything that she deemed to be unimportant. Rather, it was always time to play and live life to the fullest. Whenever she was not where she was supposed to be, she was often found climbing some part of the castle, a tree, or exploring some creek, flowerbed, or stable. Natalie was perfectly capable of learning, indeed she was as smart as a whip, but it was always going to be on her terms.
This led to her parents using alternative methods to discipline her. It was fine that she had a strong spirit, but she was going to be a lady, first and foremost! Thus, Natalie was handed off to a lady that knew exactly how to handle Natalie. The Lady Catriona Peveril, Natalie’s aunt, was much like her niece and was able to help the young woman temper some of her wilder nature by redirecting, applying and modifying as needed.
By the time Natalie came of age, she had been come a far more refined young lady, but she still retained much of her playful nature and fiery spirit. Natalie discovered her love of fashion, arranging parties, and her skills of observation. The natural charisma was tempered to ensure that Natalie could be the perfect blend of cream and fire. The need to make a statement, regardless of its nature, was the one aspect of Natalie that could never go away. Her aunt had come to accept this.
Lady Catriona impressed upon Natalie’s parents that it was time to send her to Court and put her skills to use. At first, Natalie balked at the idea of going to Court, especially since she had become rather accustomed to her own home and the de Vere court. However, her aunt impressed upon her that Court of King Sedrick would be an even larger stage to display her talents. Through some crafty negotiation on her father’s part, Natalie had been placed in Princess Emmaline’s retinue as a lady in waiting by the Iron Princess herself.
The first meeting was rough. Natalie’s fiery and outgoing nature came to clash against Princess Emmaline’s quiet, reserved and graceful nature. The differences between the two of them came to a head, both sides giving vent to their opinions. It was only after doing so that Natalie had realized she was being far too stubborn for her own good, refusing to let go of the ways of her youth and needed to grow up. Emmaline had helped her realize this, especially after she had been betrothed to a foreign prince without so much as a by her leave. Since then, Natalie has been a more calm, more observant, and steadfast friend of Emmaline’s. In many ways, the two of them complemented each other. Their mutual strengths were going to be needed, Natalie knew, for the changes that were to come.

One question that remained in the air was whether or not Natalie was going with Emmaline when the time came. The loyal side of her was screaming yes, of course. How in the world could she possibly think otherwise? On the other hand, she knew her father was going to want a marriage for her and intended to make her a wife for some lord within Demeria to advance his wealth or stance in the Court of the King. The latter aspect most certainly did not hold any appeal to Natalie. Natalie loved Demeria that much was certain, but the idea of living in another country undoubtedly held its appeal. Who knew, she might even be viewed as exotic in King Anatoli’s Court! She could only imagine how much fun she could have with that.
For now, though, it was best to keep her mind on the present and support the Princess through what was undoubtedly going to be a difficult time. Emmaline had requested that she help her setup for the Spring masque, but she was running late. Fortunately, she had a good reason for being late! At the moment, she was within the marketplace of Triadon, obtaining just a few more items for their dresses. Natalie was rather excited about her own dress, and she knew Emmaline’s was going to be gorgeous. Now if she could find just the right feather…
Ah ha. There it is. “Five coppers,” Natalie declared for the iridescent orange feather. The merchant balked the price, and the dickering proceeded. In the end, it was Natalie’s perseverance and charm that won out. Now, she had to make haste! She was already late!
