Their family was at loose ends with an imminent departure to Twinport. Lisette had quietly assumed the responsibility of ensuring her siblings' belongings were packed up in anticipation of their forthcoming journey and kept largely to herself for a time. She had a fair amount on her mind, not the least of which was the futures ahead of Laurent, Elaina and herself. Something had to be done about their mother before Laurent could properly be installed as Earl of Pescadin, but she was not sure what or how.
Sitting by the lake, Lisette hoped to glean some inspiration for how to resolve the issues facing them. Grateful that Lord Rupert had departed for Triadon, it gave her a chance to resolve some of the residual emotion left over from the years spent in anger and hatred for those of the de Vere name. True, she continued to choke on the prospect of calling Marisa de Vere 'Aunt', but she would do it for the sake of peace. As long as the young woman made their Uncle happy, she was safe. If not... all bets were off.
A quiet sigh left her lips as she wondered what to do with herself. Laurent would never force her into anything, but he needed to marry soon and produce his heir. Elaina was still finding her way, but she had every confidence that her vibrant, lively, flame-haired sister would marry soon enough. What for her, though? A thought occurred to her, one she decided to talk over with Laurent when she saw him next. It was time for the Moon to emerge from the Sun's eclipse.
