Running Prey to Ground

Chasing the Crown Prince of Sarkozsy proved to be no easy task. For a young man in a foreign clime with little knowledge of the geography and the travel routes, Nikolai continued to elude his pursuer. Learning that the prince spent only one night in Meirin, waiting out a storm, Darton was further able to acquire the direction in which the man departed. To no surprise on the knight's part, Nikolai headed west towards Twinport.
Stopping for the night in Slateford to give himself a decent night's rest and a bath, Darton discreetly queried the innkeeper, knowing the place to be of better quality. While it was highly unlikely that the Prince stayed here himself, the innkeeper kept a finger on the pulse of the city and could perhaps confirm the Prince passed through. Ordering a respectable meal with a tankard of dark ale, the knight was surprised when the innkeeper not only confirmed that the Prince traveled through the city, but that he was less than twelve hours behind now.
Thanking the innkeeper with a generous tip, Darton sat in silent thought as he consumed the roast pork and apples that comprised the meal brought him. Consulting the map he kept on his person, he studied the varied routes the Prince might have chosen if he too was mindful enough to seek out a map, then contemplated the most likely choice. Thus far, Nikolai had not made use of the King's Highway, selecting less travelled routes, but that played into Darton's plans. He could make use of the one to intercept the other... once he knew the way to go.
If Twinport was the Prince's intended destination, then time was running out.
