Finding the Right Words

Accepting the letter, Samar bowed politely. "It is the least I can do to repay you for your friendship. I will do my best to find your Lady Silver, as you call her and persuade her that I am a trustworthy courtier for a reply." The smile was faint but encouraging, the sealed scroll tucked within the tunic. "Care to meet up at the tavern in a few days? I will hopefully have good news to deliver to you then." The allure of fresh-baked bread with the honey butter would like as not serve as siren's song to Sebastian and buy her a few days to compose that response.

"That would be delightful," he said with a bright smile and then caught himself. That was a bit too enthusiastic and once again, he turned a distinct shade of red. He cleared his throat. "Thank you, again, Samar. I wish you luck in your search." He glanced about the place, feeling exposed and rather vulnerable. It was both a painful and exhilarating to be exposed to her.

"I am going to meet with my Master. I have a few things I need to discuss," he gathered his research journal and ventured toward the door. He gave her another glance before moving out. ... Of course, he completely forgot to close the door or secure it. Perhaps she would do it for him, especially since he was being particularly absent minded at the moment.

Following with a shake of head, Samar made a point to close and secure the door. The man needed a keeper, that much was certain. He was unquestionably a skilled if not a brilliant scholar, but when it came to practical matters, Sebastian de Winter was a man with his head too buried in his books to be troubled with the realities of life. Bemused by it, the dark eyes watched him wander off to meet his Master before heading in the opposite direction with the scroll still in hand as if to deliver it.
